Books play a pivotal role in the developmental process of children, introducing them to realms of imagination while imparting knowledge about the outside world. Academic books serve as gateways to a broader understanding, expanding our horizons and influencing the way we perceive the world. Whether fictional or non-fictional, books provide a platform for growth.

Amaani Sehgal, the founder of Providentia Books, understands the significance of books in children’s life, and how important they are for everyday learning. Upon visiting the TCF, she realized that children with impoverished households have limited access to academic books and other reading materials than their financially stable peers. She believes the reason less affluent families do not perform well compared to children with wealthy families is because they possess fewer learning opportunities and material. This restricted access, she concluded, contributes to the comparatively lower academic performance of children from less privileged families.

In response to this realization, Amaani Sehgal pledged to bridge the educational gap between affluent and poor communities in Pakistan. This commitment materialized in the form of an online book bank platform – Providentia Books.

Providentia Books is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to fostering a love for reading and learning among children in need. This platform facilitates book donors, individuals with spare books eager to contribute to the community, and book requestors, those seeking books and educational material through the platform. The interaction between donors and requestors is streamlined through a mobile application.

Providentia Books also partners with book publishers, other non-profit organizations to plan and arrange the distribution of books to schools operating in indigent and vulnerable communities.

 Amaani Sehgal, driven by her passion for reading and writing, envisions Providentia Books as a platform where individuals can, participate to uplift the community by providing them access to learning resources to promote literacy and building a foundation for lifelong learning.
